The beautiful lake city of Nainital is in a lush valley at an altitude of 1938 metres.The place was first discovered by British  in the year 1841. Today the town has emerged as one of the most beautiful hill resorts of India.
The Nainital Cantonment has come into existence in the year 1878. With the passage of time, the Cantonment has experienced considerable progress and development and as on today, it is a Class IV Cantonment.

By Air : The nearest airport at Phool Bagh in Pant Nagar is 14 Kms from Rudrapur and about 40 Kms from Haldwani. Presently flights from Pant Nagar to New Delhi are operated by Jagson Airlines.

By Rail : Nearest railway station is at Kathgodam which is 35 km from Nainital. train from New Delhi, Dehradun, Agra, Lucknow ,Mathura are regular .

By Road : Nainital is connected by road to major cities of northern India.
